The first Time

The first time of the e -journal gathers editors, authors and readers. We can consider it a unique time. The e journal is the beginning of a new editorial project. This experience carried out by a group of colleagues gives us the opportunity to be globally connected beyond geographical borders and in virtual time.

The first and foremost question is: How could it influence each of us and the avatars of psychoanalytical literature?

As editors, it is the first time we meet in team work whose objective is to spread ideas and writings connected with psychoanalysis  and upload  them on the web.   We know that the challenge implies to choose one and leave others out. Choosing always is a withdrawal.

As authors, creators of the written word, we affect communication. This can favor diversity and therefore multiplicity of thoughts and opinions.  The e journal will also be a journal for different cultures.

Simultaneously it will be the first time for the readers, who apart from becoming familiar with the thoughts of others and incorporating the contents, will be able to give their opinions and present their contributions in a digital exchange.

The first time implies past, present and future.  As psychoanalysts we can relate  it to remembering, repeating and elaborating. Time in the unconscious realm is not presented in chronological order. It has the characteristics of an oneiric pace with a primary logic. According to this logic, time in the unconscious is a conjectural  time. There is no contradiction and the concepts of before and after are unknown. Fatally we repeat. We repeat not only in the transference phenomenon but in our creative acts as well.

The relationship with the future imposes the opening of a communication channel  that remains and keeps improving in each edition. The first time connects us with the beginning and with the unique and the diverse. The expectation of several first times and the adventure of looking for another speech and other interlocutors make us get in touch with the difference. In this sense the intertwining between present, past and future would not only be the first time but the only time conceived as a unique experience.
